The Emirates Chair

At the start of the season one of my fellow skiers commented "Emirates Chair is back to being called Shakey Knees"

oh okay. great. fine by me. I'm quite partial to the name.

Didn't really give it much though until I saw this........

It's the new cable car system, running between Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Victoria Docks in London, that will be known as the Emirates Air Line.

It offers commuters and visitors to London aerial views of the city as they travel across the Thames between the two newly named stations, Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks.

Dubai-based Emirates airline has paid £36 million to sponsor the cable car for ten years. As part of the deal, the Emirates name will be incorporated into the stations’ names and included on London Tube maps – the first time in the Tube map’s history that a commercial brand has been able to put their name to a transport link and station.

So..... that's where the sponsorship dollars went!?

  1. Lorraine, next time you're in the vicinity, I'll give you a guided tour, it's only a couple of minutes from home. Course, haven't been on it yet.
